Trace Manuel
MFA Design, UC Davis
Trace is a cross-disciplinary, genre-fluid, mixed-methods researcher and educator. She has worked in acrylics, graphics, writings, charcoal, print, sculpture, video, short stories, soundscapes, radio shows, recording studios, yoga studios, and bar bands. Her health communication work with the UC Davis Center for Design in the Public Interest (DiPi) has received international recognition, and she has continued to work on health-related community projects across the far reaches of Northern California (and the even farther reaches of the internet). Pursuing a double master’s in Design and Community Development, Trace explores the link between self-documentation and self-reflection, and asks what new understandings become possible when we turn research practices, media analyses, and design methods on ourselves.
