Field of interest: Pre-Gupta Vaisnava iconography and numismatics
in South and Southeast Asia; Buddhist survivals in Tamil Siddha
tradition; the representation of Hinduism and Buddhism in
American popular literature from 1880 to 1968.
Field of interest: Ancient Mesoamerica. Matthew Looper heads
the Maya Hieroglyphic Database Project. He has published many
books and articles on Ancient Maya art and epigraphy, as well as
contemporary Maya textiles.
