Field of interest: Pre-Gupta Vaisnava iconography and numismatics
in South and Southeast Asia; Buddhist survivals in Tamil Siddha
tradition; the representation of Hinduism and Buddhism in
American popular literature from 1880 to 1968.
Field of interest: Ancient Mesoamerica. Matthew Looper heads
the Maya Hieroglyphic Database Project. He has published many
books and articles on Ancient Maya art and epigraphy, as well as
contemporary Maya textiles.

Ileana Oseguera is a first-generation Latina who
has worked to promote education for over ten years. During this
time, she had the pleasure to work with a diverse group of
individuals in college counseling, recruitment, and teaching,
particularly first-generation and low-income students. She holds
a bachelor of arts degree from UC Davis in
international relations and a double major in Spanish. She also
has a master of science degree in school counseling from
California State University, Sacramento.
As an Academic Advisor her goal is to guide students in their
journey to academic success and life while at UC Davis. In
her spare time, she enjoys the outdoors, cooking, working out,
and spending time with her two fur babies, Coco and
Oli.

Huryoung Vongsachang is an Undergraduate Program Coordinator and
Academic Advisor in the Arts Group Advising Center. His
experiences centered around student advocacy and support,
first-year transitions, and cross-functional event coordination,
in conjunction with his STEM and healthcare background, bring a
unique new outlook to the advising center. Huryoung has held
previous positions at the University, from the Medical Center to
the Student Housing and Dining Services, and the Cross Cultural
Center. Huryoung is a first-generation college graduate and holds
a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of
California, Davis.

His passions as a Coordinator and Advisor lie in facilitating a
fulfilling, holistic experience for undergraduates and improving
the quality of work and life. In his free time, Huryoung
thoroughly enjoys nature, food, sports, dancing, and playing the
violin.
Simone Gage earned her B.A. in Art History from Mills College in
May of 2021, graduating with the highest academic honors of summa
cum laude. Recently admitted to the Art History M.A. program at
the University of California, Davis, Gage plans to study global
contemporary art with a focus on the 1960s American cultural
revolution. In her own research, she hopes to examine how the
confluence of such mid-century national events as the post-war
economic boom, the rise of the supermarket, auto industry,
suburbs, and the advent of psychedelics have shaped visual
culture.
Margaret graduated with honors from the University of Nevada,
Reno in winter 2021. During her undergraduate career, she helped
lead and draft an introductory honors course designed to help
first-year students explore majors and careers, including art
history. Her undergraduate honors thesis explored the Greek and
Phoenician influence on pre-Roman Iberian sculptures and the
modern political context of these works in Spain.

Hunter Kiley graduated from California State University,
Sacramento where she was awarded the Jose and Juanita
Montoya Memorial Scholarship in 2020 and recognized for academic
excellence as the CSUS Art Department Student of Honor in
2021. At CSUS, Hunter worked as a UMKC-certified Supplemental
Instructor for a survey art history course and as the Lead
Student Coordinator of the SI program at large. During her
time here at UC Davis, Hunter has worked as a research and
material consultant for UC Davis history professor Dr.
B.A., Art History with Emphasis in Museum Studies and Architecture, University of California, Davis
Kayetana Klinghoffer graduated with Honors from UC Davis in 2022.
Her undergraduate thesis studied possible connections between the
American Arts and Crafts Movement and Modern Architecture in the
Netherlands due social, political and educational conditions of
the early 20th century. Now an M.A. student, she plans to study
the continuing influence of colonial stereotypes and narratives
on contemporary visual culture within, and pertaining to, Latin
America.

Allison Nakazawa graduated summa cum laude with college honors
from California State University, Fresno in the spring of 2022.
At CSU Fresno she interned in the Phebe Conley Gallery and was a
student in the College of Arts and Humanities Honors Program
where her honors thesis focused on the female patrons of the
Italian Renaissance. She plans to build upon her honors thesis,
further researching patronage studies and the intersection
between women’s, gender, and sexuality studies and art history.

Lawrence Stallman earned his B.A. in Anthropology
(socio-cultural) at the University of California, Davis. His
undergraduate research focused on discourse analysis, social
theory, archaeology and visual culture. His current graduate
research is situated around the production of material culture in
Latin American and pre-Columbian societies.

Sienna Weldon graduated summa cum laude from CSU Sacramento in
the spring of 2020. While at CSUS, Sienna served as an
instructional student assistant for a course on Renaissance and
Baroque art. Prior to beginning her M.A., she presented at the
CAA 2021 conference on her research paper concerning 18th-century
British engravings made during Captain Cook’s first journey to
the Pacific, as well as critiquing the imperial agenda of
Eurocentrism in Oceania.
Hannah Thompson earned her B.A. in Art History from Pepperdine
University. During her time at Pepperdine she worked as an art
history research assistant and student curator. Her primary
area of research is 20th century and contemporary Native American
art. Specifically exploring the works of artists like Oscar Howe,
T.C. Cannon, and Fritz Schoelder. She currently works at the
Center for Sacramento History as a Student Assistant to the head
archivist.

Originally from Belgrade, Serbia, Srđan is excited to join the
Art History department. He earned a BA in art history from
the University of Belgrade and an MA in cultural management
and policy from the University of Arts in Belgrade. Since 2011,
he has been working as a freelance curator, organizing art
exhibitions and educational projects.
