Field of interest: Pre-Gupta Vaisnava iconography and numismatics
in South and Southeast Asia; Buddhist survivals in Tamil Siddha
tradition; the representation of Hinduism and Buddhism in
American popular literature from 1880 to 1968.
Field of interest: Ancient Mesoamerica. Matthew Looper heads
the Maya Hieroglyphic Database Project. He has published many
books and articles on Ancient Maya art and epigraphy, as well as
contemporary Maya textiles.

Vincent Cheng is an Undergraduate Program
Advisor at the Arts Group Advising Center. He is passionate about
helping students succeed by empowering them with the resources,
knowledge, and skills they need to achieve their goals. He left
medical school to explore other fields where his strengths can
contribute the greatest impact in the lives of others. Prior to
advising, Vincent has coached gymnastics, run business
competitions, and built LGBTQIA educational resources. He
graduated from Harvard with a B.S. in Biology.
In his spare time, Vincent draws a comic strip he started as an
undergraduate for The Harvard Crimson. He enjoys watching anime,
playing video games, and spending time with his husband and their
two dogs.
Huryoung Vongsachang is an Undergraduate Program Coordinator and
Academic Advisor in the Arts Group Advising Center. His
experiences, centered around student advocacy and support,
first-year transitions, and cross-functional event coordination,
in conjunction with his STEM and healthcare background, bring a
unique new outlook to the advising center. Huryoung has held
previous positions at the University, from the Medical Center to
the Student Housing and Dining Services, and the Cross Cultural
Center. Huryoung is a first-generation college graduate and holds
a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of
California, Davis.

His passions as a Coordinator and Advisor lie in facilitating a
fulfilling, holistic experience for undergraduates and improving
the quality of work and life. In his free time, Huryoung
thoroughly enjoys nature, food, sports, dancing, and playing the
violin.

Greg recently retired from investment management and is studying
art history with the goal of executing philanthropic efforts
within the arts. During his undergraduate program at Arizona
State University, Greg’s interests were focused on the Italian
High Renaissance and Baroque. His current graduate research stays
with the theme of Italian Baroque as he concentrates on its
genesis and influence through the work of Venetian artist
Tintoretto in the mid-cinquecento.

Hattie graduated summa cum laude from the University of
California, Davis in spring of 2022. During her undergraduate
career at UC Davis, her primary interests related to Classical
Greco-Roman sculpture and architecture in conversation with
contemporary building practices. Her current graduate research
focuses on architectural revivalism and national metanarratives
conveyed through the presence of Neoclassical aesthetics,
practices, and ideologies as found in 20th-century United States
federal architecture.

department focusing on Asian Studies and Art History in East and

After obtaining her BA in Art History from California State
University, Sacramento, Lena continues to study feminist
contemporary art, typically focusing on themes of
intersectionality within SWANA (South West Asia and North Africa)
identities. She also has a particular emphasis on the Palestinian
Diaspora.

Since 2010, Man has been engaged in Dunhuang-inspired
painting and jewelry art design, combining practice with
teaching. Her artworks have been exhibited in multiple
international exhibitions and symposiums on related themes, and
she has published several CSSCI-indexed papers.
In 2009, Man conducted research in Jewelry Art at Kobe
Design University in Japan, and in 2016, she studied Jewelry
Art at the University of Iowa in the United States.
Man has had two solo exhibitions in Kobe and Iowa.
