Ariel Collatz is an academic advisor and program manager for the Arts Group Advising Center. She holds a B.A. degree in History from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota and a M.S. in Counseling with a specialization in Career Development from Sacramento State University. She has worked as an undergraduate advisor at UC Davis for over 10 years. Her passion is helping students create a rewarding undergraduate experience.

Vincent Cheng is an Undergraduate Program
Advisor at the Arts Group Advising Center. He is invested in
empowering students with the resources, knowledge, and skills
they need to achieve their goals. Prior to advising, Vincent has
worked in medicine, coached gymnastics, and ran business
competitions. He graduated from Harvard with a B.S. in Biology.
He enjoys drawing, watching anime, and playing video games.
Laura Xue Luo is an academic advisor for the Arts Group Advising
Center. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Animation
from Beijing Film Academy in Beijing, China and a Master of
Education from Brock University in St.Catharines, Canada. She has
worked as an instructor and academic advisor for over 10 years.
She is passionate about working with diverse student populations,
particularly with first generation and international students.
Her goal is to guide and assist students in achieving their
academic success and career goals.
“Grains of Connection” is anchored by the museum’s current
solo exhibition Sahar Khoury: Weights & Measures.
Khoury, an Oakland-based sculptor, is inspired by familial and
global histories, and cultural rituals of food, music and
mourning. This event weaves together a variety of interactive
experiences such as guided tastings of bread and olive oil,
hands-on art and agriculture activities, and pop-up gallery talks
with Associate Curator Susie Kantor.

Institute for Wine and Food Science; plant seeds from the
Palestinian Heirloom Seed Library with the UC Davis Student Farm;
try your hand at grinding wheat; and sculpt dough with herbs and
spices, among other experiences.
Hear stories from “human books” about others’ lived experiences
with support from the Human Library Organization and the UC Davis
Library.
Presented in partnership with the Robert Mondavi Institute for
Wine and Food Science, the UC Davis Library, the UC Davis
Student Farm, American Studies Department, Department of Food
Science and Technology, Middle East/South Asian Studies Program
and Human Library Organization.
Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art, Davis, CA
Stephen Bingen is a Research Associate in the
Department of Music and serves as the audio and video engineer
for the Pitzer Center. In this role, Stephen manages all aspects
of audio and video recording, live-streaming, sound
reinforcement, and the digitization of archives for the
department. He also offers support and guidance for student and
faculty research projects in music composition.
Susie Owens is in her ninth year as Production
Manager with the Department of Theatre and Dance. Much of
her time here has been spent renovating and upgrading theatrical
systems as well as managing an evolving season of diverse
productions in the various performance spaces of the
department. Prior to her arrival at UC Davis, she was a
touring stagehand specializing in scenic automation for The
Phantom of the Opera, Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, and
The Lion King. During her time on ‘the Road,’ she
was also the Head Electrician of the
B.Arch, Autonomous University of Baja California, México. 2017M.F.A. design, UC Davis. 2025
Magda is a multidisciplinary designer engaged in sustainable
architecture, graphic design, and community projects. She also is
a founding member of Cambio de Aires, a nonprofit focused on
driving social and environmental resilience in Ensenada, México.
As a graduate student, she wants to explore the intersection of
design, community participation, social impact, and
sustainability.
