With the goal of cultivating new voices for the stage, the UC
Davis Department of Theatre and Dance presents a series of new
one-act plays by undergraduate students. Written and Directed
By features four short student works mentored under the
guidance of Professor Jon D. Rossini and directed by student
directors.
“This project gives students a platform to see their rich,
multi-faceted storytelling come to life and inspire further steps
on their creative journey,” said Rossini.

Wohl’s Small Mouth Sounds in winter quarter
2025. Directed by Granada Artist-in-Residence Peter J. Kuo,
the minimalist work of experimental theater casts the
audience as voyeurs in an entertaining adventure that gradually
turns more serious.
The play opens at the Wyatt Pavilion Theatre on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
and performs Feb. 28, March 1, 6 and 7 at 7 p.m. and March 1 and
8 at 2 p.m..

and bullying through a world of fantasy role-playing games!
Alum Lucas Hatton (M.F.A., dramatic arts, ‘17) returns to direct

Who’s There by Irish theatre director and acting teacher

Project is a riveting contemporary drama that
challenges the inhabitants of a rural American community.

William Shakespeare’s comedy As You Like
It gets a contemporary gender-fluid update by the UC
Davis Department of Theatre and Dance. Directed by Josy Miller
(Ph.D., performance studies, ’15), the classic opens the
department’s 2023–24 season on Nov. 16, 2023 in the Main Theatre,
Wright Hall.

The Department of Theatre and Dance will present Open,
Stay, a new musical, June 7-10 in the Vanderhoef
Studio Theatre, Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the
Performing Arts.
Ignited by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, REFUGE – an
immersive theatrical installation will be presented as a
work in development by the UC Davis Department of Theatre and
Dance. Conceived, directed, designed and composed by Granada
Artists-in-Residence David Adam Moore and Victoria
(Vita) Tzykun, REFUGE draws from Tzykun’s own
experience as a Ukrainian refugee who fled with her family in
1990. It will be performed March 2-5 and March 9-10 at 6:30 p.m.
and 8:30 p.m. in the Main Theater, Wright Hall.
The Fall Show, a devised work drawn from Charles
Mee’s (re)making project, will be presented by the UC Davis
Department of Theatre and Dance Nov. 18-20 in the Main

launch in Spanish for ”Caravaneros,” a testimonial drama
