The Kanno Prize honors Toshinao Kanno, a retired professional
musician who is accomplished in both piano and harp. He was born
and raised in Japan, where he received a bachelor’s degree in
music. He came to the United States in the 1970s, where he
attended UC Berkeley and received a master’s degree in piano
performance. The prize ($500) is awarded to the UC Davis
student who has given the most outstanding piano performance as
determined by the faculty in the Department of Music.
