The Department of Music presents more than a hundred events each
year, including performances by many of our student ensembles.
The department has several student ensembles, and several do not
require prior experience in order to join. Please
click on each ensemble name on the left for more
information.
Important information—
Students are not expected to audition in
order to declare as a music major.
Most ensembles are open to all eligible students. In other
words, being a music major is not a prerequisite for joining
a department ensemble.

Each year we also feature our own professional Empyrean Ensemble and several visiting
artists-in-residence that present new compositions by
student composers, as well as other presentations that enhance
music studies at UC Davis.
