Ensembles

Overview

Ensembles
in the Department of Music

The Department of Music presents more than a hundred events each year, including performances by many of our student ensembles.

One way to stay informed about upcoming concerts is to subscribe to our weekly email digest (“Music @ UC Davis”). Please send us an email or use the webform on the right-hand side of this page to sign up.

The department has fifteen student ensembles, and several do not require prior experience in order to join. Our student ensembles are as follows.

Important information—

  • Students are not expected to audition in order to declare as a music major.

  • Most ensembles are open to all eligible students. In other words, being a music major is not a prerequisite for joining a department ensemble.

Each year we also feature our own professional Empyrean Ensemble and several visiting artists-in-residence that present new compositions by student composers, as well as other presentations that enhance music studies at UC Davis.
