Ildefons Cerdá integrated the ideals of social reform and quality
urban services to the development of mid-19th Century Barcelona.
Architectural drawings and archival photographs document the
contributions he made to modern urban planning and design.
The world changed. Political powers grew, economies drained and
graphic design went back to its roots. Simplicity and innovation,
resourcefulness when budgets are sparse, typography you can read,
personality, protest, camp with an art of the street edge, not
just the boardroom. Spoken with Eyes is a look at graphic design
and what it’s been up to since the dots burst. Presented by the
Sacramento Art Directors & Artist Club (ADAC).
After a 10-year hiatus, the acclaimed and ever popular Face the
Nation national juried mask competition returns to the Design
Museum. The exhibition will feature masks by artists, designers
and creators from across the nation with whimsical, thought
provoking, and exuberant imaginations. The event is sponsored by
the Design Alliance, and will culminate with an auction of the
masks displayed in the exhibition to benefit the contributing
mask maker and the Design Museum.
