With over 50 years of collecting and preserving design-related
objects, the Jo Ann C. Stabb Design Collection consists of over
5,000 items ranging from the 16th Century to the present day. The
majority of the collection holdings are ethnographic and
endangered textiles and costumes from around the world that are
used to support the teaching and research activities of the
Department of Design and enrich the exhibitions at the UC Davis
Design Museum.
Supported by donations from design faculty and friends, the
collection has grown in tandem with design education at UC Davis,
and demonstrates the evolving attitudes toward exhibiting,
conserving, researching, and interpreting material cultures in
today’s multifaceted world.
The Museum’s support group is Design Alliance.
Members host exhibition openings, act as docents, and sponsor

exciting and growing. Please contact the museum for further
