Darcy Padilla

Darcy Padilla has devoted her photography to pursuing long-form narrative documentary. Her awards include an Alexia Foundation Grant, Alicia Patterson Fellowship, Guggenheim Fellowship, Open Society Institute Fellowship, World Press Photo, and the W. Eugene Smith Grant for Humanitarian Photography. Published and exhibited internationally, Padilla’s work is in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; International Center for Photography, New York; and Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Paris. Padilla has lectured at the San Francisco Art Institute and led workshops at Rencontres d’Arles. Family Love, Padilla’s recent book follows Julie Baird for 21 years — an intimate story of poverty, AIDS and social issues. She is a member of Agence Vu in Paris and lives in San Francisco.
