“Los Migrantes  Hablan, Los Migrantes Actúan, Los Migrantes Saben”
Humanizing Deportation

Sarah Ashford Hart, doctoral student, performance studies, is among the presenters for the Humanizing Deportation event “Los Migrantes Hablan, Los Migrantes Actúan, Los Migrantes Saben,” a showing of new audiovisual works. The presentation will be held live and also streamed via Zoom on Nov. 5 at 12 noon (PST). 

The event will take place at Border Line Crisis Center, Puente México, Zona Centro, Tijuana.

This event is free and open to the public and conducted mainly in Spanish. Access available here Nov. 5 noon. 

Audiovisual works to be presented are Comida Calientita en Plena Pandemia (Esther Morales), Migrar Informado Es Migrar Más Seguro (Red Franciscana para Migrantes) and Narrativas Digitales: El Jardín de las Mariposas (Humanizando la Deportación). 

In addition to Hart, presenters include Hermana Isabel Turcios (Frontera Digna, Piedras Negras), Jaime Marín (Jardín de las Mariposas), Juan Antonio Del Monte (El Colegio de la Frontera Norte), Brooke Kipling, and Robert McKee Irwin (UC Davis). 

The event is organized in collaboration with UC Davis Global Migration Center, UC Davis Public Scholarship and Engagement, UC Davis Humanities Institute, UCLA Urban Humanities Initiative, Red Franciscana para Migrantes, and Observatorio de Legislación y Política Migratoria of El Colegio de la Frontera Norte.
