The Department of Theatre and Dance is holding auditions on Monday, Oct. 6 and Tuesday, Oct. 7 for the Tony Award-winning musical comedy The Drowsy Chaperone. Auditions will be held in the Arena Theatre, Wright Hall and are open to all UC Davis students.
To audition, please prepare two contrasting songs from the Golden Age of Musicals (from the 1930s, 40s, 50s) as opposed to songs from contemporary musicals, rock musicals and juke box musicals. In addition you will be asked to read from a scene. If you bring sheet music, accompaniment will be provided. Music selections should be limited to one and a half minutes for each song. Mandatory general dance call/workshops will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8 and Thursday, Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. in Arena Theatre. Choose one day to attend and come prepared to dance. Dance call should last between one hour to 90 minutes.
The production runs Feb. 26, 27, 28 and March 5 and 6 at 7 p.m. and Feb. 18 and March 7 at 2 p.m. in the Main Theatre, Wright Hall.

Granada artist-in-residence Rhett Guter will direct and choreograph with music direction by guest artist Patrick Burns.Instructor Ian Wallace designs the scenery, alum Tasa Gleason (MFA, dramatic arts, ‘20) designs the costumes, Assistant Professor Ethan Hollinger designs the lighting and Megan Kimura is the sound designer. Undergraduate student Mario Sandoval is the stage manager and Mikayla Freeman is the assistant choreographer.
