The international group exhibition FUNDAMENTAL is designed entirely around the specific atmosphere and spatial effect of the thick-walled hermetically enclosed, windowless rooms of  Kulturbunker Cologne-Mülheim. The rooms original purpose, to provide a refuge for thousands of Mülheimern citizens during the bombing at the end of World War II is inscribed unmistakably on the premises even after 70 years of civilian conversion.
