The Departments of Theatre and Dance as well as Cinema and Digital Media at the University of California, Davis seek an artist/ practitioner with a demonstrated engagement in one or more of the following areas: production/set design; visual storytelling; cinematography; movement and performance capture; sound/sound studies; and/or directing live and film/digital performance. The position comes with a .50/.50 co-appointment in Theatre and Dance (TAD) and Cinema and Media Studies (CDM), and the appointment would be for an Assistant Professor of Teaching. The successful candidate should have university and/or professional theatre experience as well as an MFA and/or Ph.D. As one of the country’s leading R1 institutions, UC Davis seeks candidates with a demonstrable record of and exceptional potential for research, teaching, and inclusive excellence. The tenure-track Professor of Teaching positions at the University of California are designed to support our campuses’ academic mission by emphasizing excellence in undergraduate education. Traditional tenure track positions primarily emphasize professional contribution (e.g., research or creative works) while professors of teaching are expected to primarily support the teaching mission. As members of the Academic Senate, professors of teaching are also expected to serve on departmental and campus committees and to continue developing a national and international profile of professional accomplishments.

The ideal candidate will have a master’s or doctoral degree in technical theatre, or in a related field, or have equivalent experience.
