Shinkoskey Noon Concert Endowment

The fund supports noon and/or performance concerts in the UC Davis Department of Music.  Joy S. Shinkoskey was the mother of Deborah Pinkerton and mother-in-law to Bret Hewitt.  They established an endowment to support Noon and/or Performance Concerts in the UC Davis Department of Music located in the Division of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies in the College of Letters and Science.  

 

Some information about Joy S. Shinkoskey:

 

        Joy S. Shinkoskey was the mother of four children including Deborah Pinkerton. In her younger years she was a model and played the piano which is where she developed her love of music. She played L. Van Beethoven Piano Compositions in the Spokane Music Festival in 1940. Joy eventually made her home in Costa Mesa, CA where she was a long-time community activist. She was honored as Woman of the Year by the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce in 1996. Volunteered for a number of organizations and organized the first Girl Scout Troop at TeWinkle School in Costa Mesa. She taught swimming and water safety to infants and small children, and she helped disabled children with water therapy. She later became President of the Costa Mesa Republican Women Federated club. She was a great Tennis player.
