Auditions for Fall Productions!!
October 2 & 3, 2014
We will have auditions for The Gambling Lady (The Bassett Table), the musical The Fantasticks and a student-directed production of Animals Out of Paper, on Thursday October 2 and Friday October 3 in Wright Hall at 6pm; callbacks (if needed) are planned for October 4, 2014.
Please prepare one monologue (not to exceed 3-4 minutes). If you are auditioning for the musical please be prepared to sing (bring sheet music, in the appropriate key; any musical theatre genre is OK).
The Gambling Lady (The Bassett Table) will be directed by Granada Artist-In-Residence Fidelis Morgan, The Fantasticks will be directed by staff member Kathy Morison and Animals Out of Paper will be directed by Micaela Cirimeli, a Dramatic Art major at UC Davis.
The Gambling Lady (The Bassett Table) is a comedy in which Lady Reveller negotiates sexual intrigue and a high stakes gambling table. This production is especially exciting because Ms. Morgan is also a scholarly expert on the Susanna Centlivre so-called Female Wits. Production dates are November 13 – 23, 2014 at the Main Stage Theatre
We are proud to present a holiday offering with a beautifully re-imagined version of the timeless musical The Fantasticks, with words by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt. The show’s original off-Broadway production ran a total of 42 years and 17,162 performances, making it the world’s longest-running musical. This production will be performed December 4-14, 2014 in the Wyatt Theatre.
Animals Out of Paper opens on the studio apartment of Ilana Andrews, a renowned origami artist with a recently uprooted life. Her intercom buzzes, and she meets Andy, a high school calculus teacher, who gets her to begrudgingly agree to mentor his student Suresh in the art of origami. These three characters create a place of discovery for each other, and Rajiv Joseph’s writing carefully balances ever-fragile happiness with the ever-exciting impulsiveness. This production will perform November 20-23 at the Arena Theatre.
