16th Annual Film Festival at UC Davis
Each year, UC Davis celebrates filmmakers by spotlighting student work. The 16th Annual Film Festival will run on Wednesday and Thursday, May 18 and 19 at the historic Varsity Theatre in Davis beginning at 10 p.m. Tickets are $10 for a two-day pass and $7 for a single night.
The festival will showcase an array of short student-produced films. Filmmakers include a wide range of undergraduate and graduate students from a variety of disciplines across the campus and their films represent all genres and styles, from narrative to documentary to experimental.
Each evening consists of a program of different films selected by a panel of experts who also determine the festival’s jury awards in several categories. After each screening, audience members cast their vote for the festival’s Audience Award. Student organizers make an Aggie Filmmaking Award to one selected film. Winning filmmakers receive gift certificates.
The festival is co-produced by the Art and Art History, Cinema and Digital Media, Design, Music and Theatre and Dance departments.
