FT Lab’s Jacket designed for movement disabilities
featured in The California Aggie
Helen Koo’s work with students Jason Lin (Design) and Jasmine Zhou (engineering), the “Enfold,” that she presented in film version at our recent departmental meet & greet, has been featured in an article in the Aggie.
Fourth-year design and psychology double major Jason Lin and second-year electrical engineering major Jasmine Zhou collaborated with Koo to create a jacket that would essentially fasten itself, saving the wearer the difficult tasks of buttoning and fitting into a jacket.

The jacket is designed for people with body movement difficulties. Professor Koo states that she “wanted to develop clothing that could automatically be put on and off, and that could keep the wearer’s dignity and privacy and reduce the work of caregivers.”
