New Works by Student Playwrights

The Department of Theatre and Dance will open its 2025-2026 season with Written and Directed by, a performance of four new one-act plays authored by undergraduate students.

The production runs Oct. 30, 31 and Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and Nov. 1 and 2 at 2 p.m. in the Wyatt Pavilion Theatre on Old Davis Road.

Curated by Professor Jon D. Rossini, the new student works are The Wind by Lily Qiu, Blind Eyes Could Blaze by Ryan McKinney, No que no by Simon Garcia and To Kill a Certain Painter by Melanie Garcia.

In addition, each play will be directed by a student director. Doctoral student Diego Martinez-Campos directs Simon Garcia’s play, and undergraduate students Sabrina Chen, John Mosa’ati and Brianna Thomsett direct Lily Qiu, Ryan McKinney and Melanie Garcia’s plays respectively.

Content warning: adult themes and language including themes of suicide, violence and racism.

Performances are free and open to all.
