Allison Smith

Allison Smith is an Oakland based artist whose practice “Investigates the material culture of historical reenactment and the role of craft in constructions of national and gender identities.” She has held solo shows at Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, Haines Gallery, San Francisco, SFMOMA, and the Berkeley Art Museum. She has participated in Group shows at SFMoMA, P.S.1/MoMA, New York, Frye Art Museum, Seattle, Contemporary Arts Museum, Houston, and MASS MoCA.
She has a BA from Lang College, New York, a BFA from the Parsons School of Design, New York, and a MFA from Yale University. Smith currently is the Chair of the Sculpture Program at California College of the Arts.
