Sarah Cain
Art Studio Visiting Artist Lecture Series

Sarah Cain moves beyond the traditional notion of painting within the frame by exploring abstraction and spatial interventions in a wide range of media and found materials. Leading a way into new territories of abstraction, Cain moves fluidly between works on site and her object-based studio practice. Cain was born in Albany, New York, in 1979. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California.

Cain’s work has recently been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Aspen Art Museum (2017-2019), Institute of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (2017-2018); Contemporary Art Museum Raleigh, North Carolina (2015), and the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, California (2015). She has  a forthcoming solo exhibition at Rice University, Houston Texas (2019) and The Tang Teaching Museum at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY (2021). Her work is included in multiple museum collections including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, California; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, California; Blanton Museum of Art, The University of Texas at Austin; Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, Skidmore College, New York; North Carolina Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, California; San Antonio Museum of Art, Texas and The Perez Art Museum Miami, Florida.
