Joe Fyfe
Art Studio Visiting Artist Lecture Series
Joe Fyfe’s work has been exhibited widely, most recently at the Gallery Christian Lethert in Cologne, Germany; at Ceysson & Benetiere in Saint-Etienne, France, and at the Nathalie Karg Gallery in New York City. Fyfe was included in “Times Square Show,” New York (1980) organized by Colab, and has had solo exhibitions at ACME, Los Angeles; White Columns, New York and Nathalie Karg Gallery, New York; Galerie Ceysson & Benetiere, Luxembourg and Galerie Ryellga, Hanoi, Vietnam, among others. He has received numerous awards including an Artadia, Guggenheim fellowship, a Gottleib, a Pollock-Krasner and The American Academy of Arts and Letters Gwendolyn Knight Lawrence Award. He has also curated exhibitions in New York at Zurcher Studio, Cheim & Read, and Apex Art.
He received a Senior Research Fulbright fellowship (2006-2007) for journalism and spent six months in Vietnam and Cambodia reporting on contemporary art.
Fyfe’s writings from 2000 to present have appeared in Hyperallergic, Artforum, Art in America, Artnet.com, Gay City News, Artcritical.com, Art on Paper, Kilimanjaro, Modern Matter, Beautés and BOMB, as well as in numerous monographic catalogs.
