Autistext: Rethinking Long-held Ideas about Language, Rhetoric, and What It Means to Tell (a/Autistic) Stories
January 12, 2015 12-1 pm

Melanie Yergeau, Assistant Professor, Department of English, University of Michigan

If narrative is what makes one human, then what does it mean to deny the autistic’s capacity for narrative? This talk examines the ways in which the Autistic culture movement provides opportunities to rethink long-held ideas about language, rhetoric, and what it means to tell (a/Autistic) stories.

This event is part of the Campus Community Book Project. It is co-sponsored by American Studies, Cinema and Digital Media, Cultural Studies, Theater and Dance, Performance Studies, university Writing Program and Women and Gender Studies.
