This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Music and the East Asian Studies Program.
Currently in residence in New York on an Asian Cultural Council grant, Gamin Hyosung Kang is a classically trained p’iri (double reed instrument) player who has performed extensively in South Korea as a member of the National Gugak Center’s contemporary Korean music orchestra. She has recently collaborated with many Western classical, jazz, and experimental musicians in both Korea and the United States.
Driving irections: We suggest guests park in Parking Lot 5 near the Main Theatre at Wright Hall.
Take the main UC Davis exit off of I-80. Head north on what is called Old Davis Road. The road will curve, and you’ll see a vineyard on the right-hand side. In the traffic circle, keep going straight. You will hit a light, then one four-way intersection, and then one two-way stop sign; please go straight through all three of these. On the left you will see a parking lot. Please use the second entrance and park in the “C” area on the right-hand side.
An all day parking pass is available from a yellow automated box for $8. It is only valid in C-permit zones. The machine takes both credit card and exact cash.
Once parked, please use the footbridge to cross the arboretum (the redwood grove should be to your right as you cross), and then you will get to an access road called Cushing Way. You should see a colorful theatre building on the left, and that is the main theatre (and a two-story building slightly to your right, which is the Music Building).
Free, non-ticketed
