International experience is becoming more and more critical for
all fields of study, and studio art is no exception. As the world
gets more and more globalized, the ability to analyze in a
cross-cultural manner will continue to become increasingly
important.
Studying abroad as a student in the College of Letters and
Science is both possible and encouraged. Many different
opportunities exist—from short, two-week seminars in Europe to
full, year-long immersion opportunities to foreign universities
all over the globe. The key is to start early and plan ahead!
Financial Aid goes with you and your ART advisors (along with
advisors at Study Abroad) are here to help you make it happen.
UC Davis Study Abroad maintains a page of recommended programs
for students in the Maria Manetti Shrem Art Studio Program.
Each year, UC Davis offers four students scholarships –
Manetti Shrem International Residency Scholarships — to attend
the Royal Drawing School’s Drawing Intensive program during the
Fall Quarter. The Royal Drawing
School aims to raise the standard and profile of drawing
through teaching and practice. At its core is the belief that
drawing is crucial for all aspects of visual learning.
This opportunity is open to all UCD seniors who have their
degrees by Spring, and recently graduated Art Studio majors.
The application process typically opens in March and will be
advertised on the art studio website and social media when the
application process is open.
