Bachelor of Fine Arts in Composition and Experimental Sound Practices , CalArts
Paul Engle has studied music with many great teachers and
colleagues at Los Angeles City College, CalArts (BFA Composition
and Experimental Sound Practices), and UC Davis where he is
currently a graduate student. He also studies shakuhachi with
Kakizakai Kaoru, performs with the UCD Graduate Student Ensemble,
and teaches young people music theory and composition at New
World Music Academy in Pleasanton.
The Graduate Student Ensemble (GSE) is excited to put on its
fourth annual concert. The ensemble gives music graduate
students a creative and social setting in which they can
experiment with varied instrumentation and diverse repertoire.
Leanny Muñoz (she/her) is a Ph.D. student at UC
Davis with experience in music performance, secondary and higher
education, and professional development. She received her
master’s degree in musicology (music history) from Louisiana
State University. Her academic research areas are in Latin
American music and cultural diplomacy. As a first-generation
student herself, Leanny has a special interest in providing young
students with the tools necessary to succeed in college or in the
job market.
