Busse Berger Awarded Edward A. Dickson Emeritus Award
Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Music Anna Maria Busse Berger was awarded the Edward A. Dickson Emeritus Award by the Emeriti Association and Vice Provost of Academic Affairs, UC Davis. The award will augment Busse Berger’s research project on music in Moravian mission stations from 1732 to 1950.
“Between Orality and Literacy: Music in Moravian Mission Stations, 1732–1950” follows in the footsteps of Busse Berger’s other recent projects, including her 2020 book, which examined the intersection of African music during missions in Germany’s colonial period: The Search for Medieval Music in Africa and Germany, 1891–1961: Scholars, Singers, Missionaries. Professor Berger taught for more than three decades in the Music Dept. in the College of Letters and Science at UC Davis.
