Rachel Taylor Geier holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Music degree from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor of Music degree from DePauw University.Her principal teachers have included Immanuel Davis, Linda Lukas, Anne Reynolds, and Rhonda Bradetich and she has performed in masterclasses by Keith Underwood, Mario Caroli, Pedro de Alcantara and Gary Schocker. Ms.
Taylor Geier’s dissertation, entitled, Misrepresentations; A Comparative Analysis of the Altès Méthode and Subsequent Reinterpretations, focuses on the three volume flute etude book by Henri Altès and how modern editions of the 19th century work deviate from the pedagogical objectives set forth in the original edition. Ms. Taylor currently works on campus as the office manager of the King Hall Civil Rights Clinic while her husband completes his Ph.D. in Comparative Literature at UC Davis.
