Bill Flynn
Cello, Principal
Bill Flynn is a geriatric psychiatrist who recently joined the VA Northern California Health Care System. His musical studies began at age 9 with the classical guitar. At age 13 he began playing the double bass and played in school and community orchestras continuously for 17 years, until finishing his residency. Lacking access to a school bass any longer, he turned to classical voice for the next decade or so until 7 years ago when he began studying the cello. His cello teachers have been Miriam Perkoff and David Mollenauer.
As a cellist, he’s played with Austin Civic Orchestra, Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra and in a string quartet with 3 medical students.
