Ann Lavin

Ann Lavin, clarinetist, performs with the San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Ballet, San Jose Chamber Orchestra, Sacramento Symphony, and has played with the San Francisco Symphony, Opera San Jose, West Edge Opera, California Symphony, Santa Rosa Symphony, Symphony Silicon Valley, and other Bay Area orchestras. Recent highlights include the San Francisco Opera’s recent productions of the Ring cycle, Elektra, and Don Giovanni. Lavin was principal clarinet for many years with both the Sarasota Opera and the Utah Festival of Opera. She maintains an active teaching studio in Davis and has coached many youth orchestras in the Bay Area. She has toured and performed in Hong Kong, Israel, Russia, Japan, Taiwan, Vienna and played two summers at the Italian Spoleto Festival Due Mondi. Other festival appearances include Mendocino Music Festival, Carmel Bach, Wien Modern, Midsummer Mozart, Tanglewood, Sebago-Long Lake. Her principal teachers were Larry Combs, Charles Neidich, Robert Marcellus, and Daniel Gilbert.
