Audition Information
Fall 2020, Concert Band

Everyone is welcome to audition! The Concert Band Program is proud to include students from over 30 majors on campus.

New member auditions for the UC Davis Concert Band for Winter Quarter 2021 will take place via submitted recording or in a live online meeting.

Step 1: Fill out an online audition form.

Step 2: Please submit a recording including up to 3 minutes of a prepared piece or pieces of your choice plus two major scales. Scales may be at any speed you like, but between the two they need to demonstrate both the lower and higher ranges of the instrument.

If you prefer to set a live (online) meeting time, please email Pete Nowlen with your request.

There are two bands during the year:

  1. UC Davis Concert Band—offered all three quarters—is directed by Pete Nowlen, and is a wind-symphony sized group of about 55 musicians, for which an audition is required.
  2. University Campus Band—offered only in Winter and Spring quarters—and is open to all students and community members without an audition. Independent study credit is sometimes available.
