John Freeman
Trumpet, Fall 2013

John Freeman is a professional classical trumpet player who has been living, playing and teaching in the San Francisco Bay Area for five years. 

John is the Principal Trumpet of the Marin Symphony and a member of the Oakland East Bay Symphony and Symphony Napa Valley. Additionally, John frequently performs with other Bay Area groups such as the San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera, San Francisco Chamber Orchestra, the California Symphony, the Modesto Symphony Orchestra, The Fresno Philharmonic,  Symphony Silicon Valley, and the Berkeley Symphony Orchestra. In addition to symphonic music, John performs with a wide variety of ensembles including brass quintets, Broadway pit orchestras, big bands, salsa bands and occasionally even rock bands. He teaches private students at his home and throughout the Bay area. John serves as adjunct trumpet professor at California State University Stanislaus. Before moving to San Francisco, John was the Principal Trumpet of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra in South Carolina. He moved to San Francisco during the summer of 2008 when his wife accepted a position in the administrative staff of the San Francisco Opera.
