Cindy Behmer, Lecturer in Music and Chamber Music, teaches oboe at UC Davis and California State University, Sacramento. Dr. Behmer performs regularly with numerous organizations in Northern California and Nevada, including Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera, Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, Broadway at Music Circus, Stockton Symphony, Modesto Opera, Reno Philharmonic, and Oakland Symphony.

Upon completion of her Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Arizona with Dr. Neil Tatman, Dr. Behmer served as tenured oboist and English hornist with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and member off the Tucson Chamber Artists Orchestra, Tucson Pops Orchestra, St. Philip’s Friends of Music, and St. Andrew’s Bach Society.

Dr. Behmer has had the opportunity to travel and perform in China, South Korea, Europe, and Mexico. Most notably were her presentation and performances at the 2011 College Music Society International Conference held in Seoul, South Korea and her performances for the annual International Double Reed Society Conference in 2016. Dr. Behmer recently hosted the 2024 Carolyn Hove English Horn Master Classes at Sacramento State, a week-long event with over 20 Performers and Auditors.

In addition to working as an educator and freelance musician, Dr. Behmer enjoys quality time with her young family at their home in rural Wilton where they enjoy outside-time together in the garden, with their animals, and planning camping trips.
