Alum Joins Electronic Music Software Firm
Alum Alex Van Gils (PhD, composition ‘17) has joined the staff of Cycling ‘74, which produces the industry’s leading electronic music software—including Max/MSP. In his new role he will be a part of the materials team, teaching users—particularly at universities and other similar organizations.
Van Gils recent artistic projects included XBUCKET, a performance trio featuring live-processed violin and generative video, along with daily compositions made with Max/MSP/Jitter visuals uploaded to @avg.music on Instagram. Van Gils is a founding member of Cutelab, a place for colors and sounds in NYC, and is a teaching fellow with Musical Mentors Collaborative.
