Performances and Lectures to Feature Ensemble Dal Niente
Ensemble Dal Niente, a Chicago-based contemporary music collective, will perform two concerts at UC Davis on Nov. 1 and 2. In addition one of its members and an acclaimed affiliate will participate in two lectures during their visit.

The ensemble performs new works by UC Davis graduate student composers in the Shinkoskey Noon Concert Series. Christian Baldini, Barbara K. Jackson Professor of Music, Orchestral Conducting, conducts the concert.

Percussionist Gregory Beyer, a member of Ensemble Dal Niente and professor at Northern Illinois University, joins Juan Diego Diaz, UC Davis assistant professor of music, at the Musicology/Ethnomusicology Forum for a talk, ”Arching over the Atlantic: Exploring Links Between Brazilian and Angolan Musical Bows.”

Composer/vocalist Erin Gee, whose work “Mouthpiece 32″ is premiered that evening by the ensemble, gives a lecture on her career.
