Valente Lecture: Hannes Dufek, composer
Visiting Austrian composer Hannes Dufek will have his work a black heart, the death of a friend and the end of a place: some lessons in falling apart, premiered by the Empyrean Ensemble on October 13. Ahead of this concert, Hannes will speak about his music.

About Hannes
Hannes Dufek (b. 1984 in Vienna) is an Austrian composer. His work encompasses concert works, stage works, intermedial and graphic works. His main interest lies in the possibility of free spaces in and through music, in perceiving the world through music under the sign of freedom. This was also reflected in his doctoral thesis completed in 2019 with Clemens Gadenstätter and Christa Brüstle at the KUG in Graz. He is co-founder and was for a long time (2006 to 2019) chairman of the ensemble for new music Platypus, and from 2014 to 2016 also a board member of IGNM Austria.
