Works by Professor Shiva Ahmadi and alum Amy Lincoln (B.A. ‘03) are featured in “New Horizon: Recent Contemporary Acquisitions” at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. PAFA aquired Professor Ahmadi’s painting Red Light (2020) and Amy Lincoln’s Sun Ray Spectrum (Yellow, Violet & Black) (2024).

The new group show Transgresoras: Mail Art and Messages, 1960-2020 at the California Museum of Photography (UC Riverside) features work by Professor Beatriz Cortez.

Professor Beatriz Cortez’s sculpture Ilopango, Stela A (2022) has been included in the exhibition Grounded at LACMA. Grounded will open Sept. 14. 

Nicole Anderson (M.F.A. ‘25) has received a grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation. This is Nicole’s third grant from the foundation which supports young artists working at the forefront of representational art.

Art studio graduate students will be featured in a group show presenting new work from M.F.A. candidates from San Francisco State University and UC Davis. “(dis)Solve (et coagula)” opens Thursday, Aug. 7 with an opening reception from 6-9 p.m. at the 5 Olive Gallery.

Seongmin Yoo’s (M.F.A. ‘24) new solo show “Flow of Displacement” is on view at the Holter Museum of Art in Helena, Montana. Her life-size sculptural installation explores themes of migration, resilience, and environmental connection. Using plant and animal materials, the figures evoke a living map of movement and belonging and reflect on the journeys of the displaced.

The Flow of Displacement” is on view to September 21.

Professor Beatriz Cortez’s artist-in-residence with the Blue Heights Arts and Culture is concluding with the group show “Temporary Home.” Cortez, who was displaced by the Eaton Fire, has been in residence in the Galka Scheyer House in the Hollywood hills since March 7.  The Scheyer House was built by architect Richard Neutra and commissioned by the art dealer, curator and painter Emmy (Galka) Scheyer to serve as her residence but also a gallery and artist residency.

The M.F.A. class of 2025 — Joel Murnan, Jamal Gunn Becker, Brenton Haslam, Raquel Marie Tripp, Nicole Anderson, Josephine Devanbu and Cella Costanze — are featured in a new group show at Public Land.

“Soft Land” will be on view from July 26-August 2.

“not never over nothing,” Professor Fidencio Fifield-Perez’s new solo at Commonwealth and Council, features works that examines migration and the absurdities at the heart of state apparatuses of documentation. Using grid-like forms and patterns and working with painting, collagraphy, weaving, and collage, Fifield-Perez’ recreates the network of surveillance and architecture that impassively monitors people during some of the most harrow

Jordan Benton (M.F.A. ‘23) and Whitney Vangrin (M.F.A. ‘22) will exhibit new works on June 28 at Confloptus. Jordan presents photographs from the project STACKS, depiction of prescribed burn piles, exploring the visual language of ecological intervention. Whitney shares new sculptures and video, featuring footage from the kelp restoration project at Bodega Bay Marine Lab and fermentation processes at The Cultured Pickle Shop in Berkeley.

The Brower Center’s annual local exhibition “Object [Im]Permanence” features graduate student Tara Daly and alum Irman Arcibal (M.F.A. ‘08).

The Basement Gallery and Open Walls Collective come together to celebrate art created by graduating art studio seniors in “Senior Art Meets Conversation: A Panel of Perspectives.” A discussion showcasing student artists and curators meet at the Pence Gallery on Saturday, June 7 from 6:00-9:00 p.m.

The first Boston Public Art Triennial features a commissioned work by Professor Beatriz Cortez. The Triennial presents 15 commissioned works by 15 artists selected and curated by Pedro Alonzo and Tess Lukey.

Professor Beatriz Cortez is featured in the new group show “Seeds: Containers of a World to Come” at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis.

Professor Shiva Ahmadi will discuss her art and process in the Logan Lecture Series at the Denver Art Museum. The lecture is onsite May 6 from 6-7 pm; registration is required.

Since 2007, the Logan Lecture Series at the Denver Art Museum has presented talks by over 120 contemporary artists.
