We are the home of theatre and dance studies at UC Davis. Our diverse faculty include artists and scholars of national and international renown, including award-winning directors and designers.

In addition to many undergraduate students majoring in dramatic art, five to ten visiting professional artists and teachers each quarter. This mix of college students, mid-career professionals, and seasoned theater practitioners and scholars provides a dynamic environment for learning, experimentation, and growth. It offers a diverse, supportive community for all of its members.

The Granada Artist-in-Residence Program, a unique cooperative program with Granada Television of London, annually brings three distinguished theater artists to the department to teach and create a performance work with UC Davis students. Granada artists have included playwright Mark Ravenhill, an associate of London’s National Theatre, acclaimed choreographer Qudus Onikeku, and internationally known theater and opera director Irina Brown.
