Video Auditions for “CLICK”
In fall quarter, the UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance presents “CLICK,” an innovative contemporary drama which spotlights five students who struggle with their identity in the digital age. The directors are now seeking audition videos.
Written by Jacqueline Goldfinger, Granada Artist-in-Residence, the presentation will be performed online Dec. 3, 5, 10 and 11.
Roger Ellis, assistant professor of musical theatre at Northwestern University, serves as the production’s co-director and Adriano Cabral, assistant professor of voice and movement at the University of Nevada, Reno, is the production’s voice and intimacy coach. Owen Marshall, postdoctoral scholar and lecturer, science and technology studies, UC Davis, is the soundscape designer, and Gabriel Strong, graduate student, Northwestern University, is the lighting designer.
“CLICK” is a co-production with Northwestern University and their American Music Theatre Project.
For the auditions, please read the entire script. Auditions are by video submission (self-shot cell phone video in landscape format). The video should include the scene for ALL, as well as the scenes for the specific character you are auditioning for. Your video submission should include footage of you singing one chorus of an uptempo contemporary song (something with a dance beat). We are not seeking singers – just want to get a sense of your sense of rhythm. Please include full body footage so the directors get a complete sense of your physicality.
The video should be uploaded to Box using the link below, no later than Sept. 25. Auditions are open to all UC Davis students.
1. Record your audition following the instructions above, and have your audition file available on a computer or laptop. Rename your audition file to: “[Your First and Last Name] CLICK Audition”.
2. On your computer or laptop, click on the UC Davis Box link above, and you will be directed to a page titled “Submit Files.”
3. Click on the button titled “Select Files.” It will open up your File Explorer.
4. From your File Explorer, select your audition file and select “Submit.”
5. Once your file has uploaded successfully, you’re done!
If you have any issues with uploading your file, please contact Jillian Yong (email@example.com) with any questions.
“I love that we’ll be the only generation with click envy,
As swipes and soundless keypads swallow the voice of the next generation. They will be raised to Whisper whisk
And I guess that the next generation after that will be raised in silence.”
