Andrea Weber who was a dancer with Merce Cunningham Dance Company
for eight years, will teach a master class and open lecture
focusing on Merce Cunningham’s technique, repertory and
philosophies. Discussion will focus on the impact that
Merce Cunningham and John Cage had on the modern dance world,
what it was like to work with Merce directly, and the legacy that
he left behind. There will be a typical yet condensed warm-up
that movers and non-movers can participate in and work with
chance procedures, the method that Cunningham and Cage used to
create works.
Class participation is offered to UC Davis students only but
viewing audience is also welcome on Monday, October 8, 4:10 p.m.
at University Club Studio. Admission is free.
