Alumna back at UC Davis to lead satiric play
November 2, 2015 (Davis Enterprise)

The UC Davis Theatre and Dance Department welcomes back alumna Patricia Miller to direct the biting satire “The Government Inspector.” It will be performed Nov. 12-22 at the Main Theatre in Wright Hall.

In the 1840 play by Nikolai Gogol, the corrupt bureaucrats in a Russian town hear that an undercover inspector is going to pay a visit. When a stranger shows up, they assume he’s the inspector, but he’s actually just a minor civil servant. He doesn’t understand why everyone is being so generous and deferential to him, but he’s happy to accept.

Miller, who received her Master of Fine Arts in directing from UC Davis in 2009, is a teacher and director at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre and artistic director of Pollinator, which explores classical theater and new work with physical theater, circus, opera ritual and performance.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15 general and $10 for students and seniors. For reservations, call the box office at 530-752-7111 between noon and 4 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
