Professor Emerita Maggie Morgan Designs Two Bay Area Productions
Maggie Morgan, professor emerita of theatre and dance, has designed costumes for two stage works recently produced in the Bay Area.
For the Aurora Theater Company in Berkeley, CA, Morgan created a1940s wardrobe for Paradise Blue, a jazz-infused drama in which a gifted trumpeter contemplates selling his once-vibrant nightclub in Detroit’s Blackbottom neighborhood. The San Francisco Chronicle singled out the clothes as worn by the cast “attired in ’40s snazziness by costume designer Maggie Morgan.”
Justice: A New Musical at Marin Theatre Company celebrates the first three women Supreme Court justices with Morgan creating the signature looks of Sandra Day O’Connor, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor. The production runs through March 12.
