Arielle Hardy curates Photographs from the Ramer Collection
Nelson Gallery

“Fragmentary Evidence: Photographs from the Ramer Collection” at the Richard L. Nelson Gallery and Fine Arts Collection here at UC Davis is an experimental exhibition of photography curated by 2015 M.A. Art History candidate Arielle Hardy. This exhibition is drawn from the Collection of Dr. Barry Ramer. Building upon her research as a classicist, Hardy approaches twentieth-century analog photography as deep history lost to viewers living in the age of tumblr and Instagram. The exhibition is presented as a non-traditional installation that juxtaposes images of body fragments, and in some cases fragmented images, in search of an art that is accessible now only through fragmentary evidence.

A conversation between Arielle and Justina Martino (2015 M.A. Art History candidate) on KDVS is available online.
