ITDP: The Dogs of War
Using the text of Shakespeare’s Wars of the Roses plays, The Dogs of War features the often-cut scenes of soldiers, citizens, women, children and ghosts to reexamine representations of war via the bodies of common people. The play occurs in five episodes, through which the audience is guided by a Chorus, mapping the (un)history of the populace through Richard II, Henry IV – Parts 1 and 2, Henry V, Henry VI – Parts 1, 2 and 3, and Richard III. The ensemble cast embodies literally dozens of characters, and the production design features Renaissance style in a contemporary reincarnation.
Director Josy Miller is a Ph.D. candidate in Performance Studies.
