Working with UC Davis students, Rinde Eckert will also create and
direct Fate and Spinoza.
Philosopher Baruch Spinoza was a lens-grinder by
occupation, and this piece will explore the eye, its physiology,
its optics, and its poetic and philosophical correlates.
“Movement, music, visual intrigue, and splendor will all be
integral,” Eckert said. “There will be scenes, dialogues,
monologues, parables, songs, and dances. And, if we’re fortunate,
there will be some accidents we can’t explain.”
Fate and Spinoza runs February 28 – March 1 and March
6-9, 2008, in the Main Theatre
