Call for Collaborators: (RE)VISION
Deadline Extended
(Re)Vision is an invitation to dream. At this moment where ecological, political, and systemic structures are colliding with violent force, revisioning is needed and necessary. Revisioning conjures new worlds through reorientation to the spaces and relationships with which we move. Revising requires us to experiment, take risks, and confront the limits of what we have in front of our eyes. This evening of movement and performance asks audiences to remain active in the call to see, and to move towards, what can be made anew by reframing what exists around us.
(Re)Vision — the 2024 Spring Dance Concert — seeks collaborators in the form of choreographers and makers who will create work to be shown in June. Students must be enrolled in DRA 146B in the Spring Quarter and will be required to commit to production meetings and rehearsals beyond the class period. Enrollment in DRA 146A in the Winter Quarter is highly recommended. (Re)Vision will be a site-specific concert. To apply, students should email Doria Charlson (decharlson@ucdavis.edu) with a 400-500 word proposal of their project, including potential sites for performance and the students’ conception or questions related to the theme of revision and a 100 word biography by January 31, 2024. Collaborators will be finalized in early Winter Quarter and all works are subject to approval by the department. Auditions for dancers and performers will take place in Winter Quarter.
