Alumna Joins New Davis Theatre Company
Theatre alumna Melissa Cunha, class 2017, has joined the newly created Bike City Theatre Company in Davis. She serves as Company Manager and will be stage manager for their inaugural production, “Gutenberg, the Musical.”
Cunha is a local actor and stage manager. She was a founding member of Millennial Theater and has collaborated with them for the past three seasons. She also has been working on theatre productions throughout the department at UC Davis – most recently in the role of Richard in Shakespeare’s Richard III. Other credits at UC Davis include Elements and Evelyn in The Shape of Things. She served as stage manager and assistant stage manager for Davis Shakespeare Festival’s 2016 season. She is a recent graduate from UC Davis with a B.A. double majoring in dramatic arts and film studies.
With a goal of creating performance that brings together people of all walks of life and invites them to explore, experience, and express, the Bike City Theatre Company will open their first production at various venues throughout Davis.
After the musical comedy “Gutenberg,” Bike City Theatre will present the provocative dark comedy “The Rape of the Sabine Women, By Grace B. Matthias” written by Michael Yates Crowley which explores sexual misconduct. For information about auditions, please contact the company’s casting director John R. Lewis at jlewis@bikecitytheatre.org.
