This year’s colloquium explores the intersection between critical animal studies and the history of art. How we think about animals has long been related to how we represent them, from prehistoric cave paintings to current debates about animal rights. Join us for a discussion about how images help us to negotiate human-animal relationships.
Speakers for the 2026 Templeton Colloquium in Art History will be Katie Hornstein, Professor of Art History at Dartmouth College, and Annie Ronan, Assistant Professor of Art History at Virginia Tech.
Additional details forthcoming.
The series is made possible by the generous support of Alan Templeton (B.A., ‘82).
