Patrons are invited to an open rehearsal for Taking Shape, the DRA 145 Choreography Lab. The workshop will be held on Nov. 4 and 5 in the Della Davidson Performance Studio in Nelson Hall, next to the Gorman Museum of Native American Art.
Taking Shape is an investigation into how the world around us shapes and molds us. In collaborative choreographic projects, students are exploring our relationship to geometry and form alongside the idea that we, as humans, are shaped by tradition, acculturation, and inheritance. This is an open rehearsal; students will be workshopping works-in-progress. Following the pieces, audience members will be invited to join a conversation with dance-makers about the process and to gain insight into the audience reception of the works.
Performers and choreographers include undergraduate students and students from the Redwood SEED Scholars Program.
The performance begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to all.
