Alumna Raissa Simpson’s Dance Company Wins Isadora Duncan Award
Alumna Raissa Simpson (MFA, dramatic arts, ‘16), artistic director of PUSH Dance Company, and her company have won an Isadora Duncan Dance Award in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Performance Ensemble. The recognition came for the work Expedition, directed and choreographed by Simpson and performed outside in front of 447 Minna Street, San Francisco.
The Isadora Duncan Dance Awards celebrates the unique richness, diversity, and excellence of Bay Area Dance, to foster a supportive environment for its growth and development. The recently announced awards were given for the 2021-2022 performance season.
Among this year’s winners was inkBoat physical theatre dance whose artistic director is Shinichi Iova-Koga who was a Granada Artist in 2022 and created Clouds from a Crumbling Giant.
